Our Commitment

Academic Integrity at StudyIB

We believe technology should support learning, not replace it. Here's how we ensure our tools uphold the highest standards of academic honesty.

Our Core Principles

Academic integrity is fundamental to the IB Diploma Programme and to education itself. Our tools are designed with these principles at their core.

📚

Learning as the Primary Goal

Our tools are designed to help you understand concepts better, not to do the work for you. Feedback points out areas for improvement, but the thinking and writing must be yours.

🔍

Transparency in Use

We encourage students to be transparent with teachers about using study aids. Our tools provide guidance similar to asking a teacher for feedback.

No Plagiarism Support

Our AI will not write essays or generate content that could be submitted as your own work. We provide feedback and suggestions, not turnkey solutions.

🎯

IB-Aligned Standards

All our tools reference official IB assessment criteria. We help you understand what examiners are looking for, not how to bypass assessment.

Appropriate Use

  • Using feedback to identify gaps in your understanding
  • Getting suggestions on how to improve your argument structure
  • Understanding IB assessment criteria better
  • Generating practice questions for self-study
  • Reviewing feedback before finalizing your own work
  • Learning from examples and explanations

Misuse (Academic Dishonesty)

  • Submitting AI-generated text as your own work
  • Asking AI to write your essay or IA
  • Copying and pasting AI responses without attribution
  • Using AI to bypass the learning process
  • Presenting AI-generated ideas as your original thinking
  • Submitting work that isn't your own intellectual creation

IB Academic Integrity Policy

The International Baccalaureate Organization maintains strict academic integrity policies. Malpractice, including plagiarism and collusion, can result in disqualification from the IB Diploma.

According to the IB: "Academic integrity is a guiding principle in all aspects of the IB Diploma Programme. It is the responsibility of all members of the IB community to ensure that honesty and integrity are central to all teaching, learning, and assessment."

AI tools should be used similarly to how you would use feedback from a teacher or peer review. The final work must represent your own thinking, writing, and understanding.

IA and EE Specific Guidance

Internal Assessment (IA)

Your IA must be your own independent work. You may:

  • Use our tools to understand assessment criteria
  • Get feedback on structure and clarity (before your teacher review)
  • Understand what different grade levels look like

You must NOT use AI to generate data, analysis, or conclusions.

Extended Essay (EE)

Your EE requires formal academic acknowledgment of all sources. While AI citation standards are evolving, we recommend:

  • Consulting with your supervisor about AI tool use
  • Using AI only for preliminary feedback (not content generation)
  • Ensuring all research, writing, and analysis is your own work

Learn with Integrity, Excel with Confidence

When you use our tools responsibly, you develop genuine understanding and skills that will serve you well beyond the IB.
