Find a Supervisor
Work with a teacher in your chosen subject. They will guide you through the process and provide feedback.
Research and Plan
Conduct thorough research using reliable sources. Plan your essay structure and argument flow.
Draft and Revise
Write multiple drafts based on supervisor feedback. Focus on analysis, critical thinking, and academic rigor.
Final Submission
Submit your final essay with completed Reflections on Planning and Progress Form (RPPF).
EE Assessment Criteria
Choosing a Good Research Question
- ✅ Specific: "How does temperature affect the rate of enzyme-catalyzed reactions?" (Good)
- ❌ Too broad: "What are enzymes?" (Too vague)
- ✅ Debatable: Allows for analysis and argument, not just description
- ✅ Manageable: Can be researched with available resources within time constraints
⚠️ Common EE Mistakes to Avoid
- • Choosing a topic too broad or too narrow
- • Waiting too long to start - begin in junior year!
- • Not meeting regularly with your supervisor
- • Ignoring the word limit (4,000 words max)
- • Poor time management leading to rushed work
- • Failing to reflect on the research process
